Raise your hand if you’ve ever put something “more important” in front of your own well needed and deserved self care?
It’s all too easy to get caught up with anything and everything nowadays – from work and family to friends and commitments – and too often we let something just for ourselves fall to the wayside. Maybe you’ve felt like you’ve even lost your sense of self because of the endless responsibilities, even if you (mostly) enjoy them?
Why is it hard to say NO, so we can say YES to OURSELVES?
Probably because our minds are running a million miles a minute to get it all done but that has to stop. Well, at least the part that doesn’t include self care.
If self care isn’t a regular, perhaps scheduled, part of your day or week, take a minute to see how you can change this and actually be selfish. I know for me personally my overall spirit, well being and, let’s face it, patience levels are dramatically improved when I can carve out some “me time.”
The beauty of self care is that it can be whatever you’d like and come in endless forms:
- Perhaps it’s taking a dance or yoga class or going for a run
- Enjoying a drink (or several) out with friends
- Blowing off the “things you want to get done tonight but can wait until the morning” to binge watch your latest show
- Treating yourself to a massage or a new lipstick
- High-fiving your partner to skip bedtime, so you can run a solo errand
Whatever self care may look like to you, I hope it is or can become a part of your routine, so you never lose yourself <3.
