Earth Day Craft

While we won’t celebrating Earth Day the way we normally do with an event I run at my daughter’s elementary school, we instead took some time as a family to honor our planet with a tree craft focusing on kindness and protecting our Earth.

I love the message, as well as the simplicity of this craft, so don’t worry about making any Pinterest fails here! Plus, you most likely have all the supplies on-hand that you’ll need: construction paper, scissors, glue, a pencil and markers.

First, start by tracing your/child’s hand, cut it out and glue the hand onto your brown paper to use as the base of your tree.

Next cut out some hearts (leaves) and write down ways you promise to be kind to the Earth… it can a bigger commitment like stopping buying plastic water bottles (no judgment as we don’t buy them, but know how hard these small bottles can be to resist during parties, esp for kids) or something as easy as remembering to turn off the lights when you leave a room or not leaving the water running when washing your hands.

Finally, glue on the hearts and your tree is done!

This craft is a great way to reiterate to children how small steps can make a big impact and help them realize the positive effects their actions can have across the board.

Enjoy celebrating the 50th anniversary of Earth Day and I can’t wait to see pictures of your trees ❤
