Tips to Reduce Anxiety

Are you too on the ever-changing Coronacoaster?

Chances are your anxiety levels have been/may continue to be on the rise, so to help keep levels in check, here are a few staples I’ve been reaching for to help survive this bumpy ride:

  • Passionflower Extract: First, a friend introduced me to passionflower extract, which has been a huge help in resetting my mind and helping me find some well-needed calm. While I’m no Dr. and encourage you to always do your own research, adding this extract to my water has been a game changer lately.
  • 3-3-3 Breathing Exercise: When I’m feeling really stressed (and even some nights when I’m try to shut off my brain to fall asleep), I take a step back and focus on my breathe. Yup, it’s as easy as that and I love the 3-3-3 method. Simply breathe in for three seconds, hold it for three and then exhale for three. Try doing it a few times and you’ll be amazed how this technique can instantly shift your mood and surroundings – works great for kids, too!
  • Making Time for Self Care: When I’m feeling all the feels, I also like to focus on self-care, which can come in many forms. Sometimes, it’s hiding in the bathroom and putting on my favorite charcoal face mask for 10 minutes of quiet time. Or, calling or texting a friend as an escape or to commiserate. Maybe, it’s setting aside time to take an obé fitness class or do a meditation. Or, catching up on Bravo or reading on my kindle.
  • Focus on Gratitude: With so many things out of our control, I’ve been taking time to appreciate all the good that’s in my control and practice gratitude. From our health and safety to our food and friends and family, taking the time daily to remember what you’re grateful for can be an instant mood booster.

Some days can be harder than others, so when you’re feeling down during this ride, I hope these tips can help and know I’m always here, too. After all, we are in this together and will get through this together ❤
