Facial gua sha is a traditional Chinese beauty practice designed to not sculpt and reinvigorate the skin, but also help release facial tension and circulate blood and lymph throughout the tissues.
Do you incorporate gua sha into your beauty routine?
I’ll admit that I was so intrigued by this practice that I bought a Wildling Empress Stone as a birthday gift for myself last April.
Did I start using it right away? Absolutely not, ha!
I felt too tired to incorporate something new but finally a few months ago, I decided to give it a whirl and it’s been amazing and easy, too!
Routines can vary by person, but at a novice level, this practice doesn’t have to take long (for me, it’s usually like 30 seconds) and it’s great to play around to find out which techniques work and feel best for you (below is a great visual from Wildling).

I tend to gua sha a few times a week – alternating between using my No.1 facial oil or Countertime tripeptide radiance serum in the morning or my Cleansing balm in the evening – focusing on gently moving in upward and outward motions. Adding this quick step into my routine has been definitely been beneficial, as I have loved seeing the benefits of smoothing, lift and de-puffing, especially after those later nights!
Gua sha can definitely be part of a daily or weekly self-care regimen, giving your skin some TLC, added calm and relaxation either in the AM or PM – something I’m sure we can all agree we could use right now 🙂
