When it comes to shopping for back to school and/or the fall clothes (I know, I know), prioritize buying clothing made from natural fabrics as much as you can.
Why?
First, they won’t contain any plastics, which we know is already better for our health and the environment. Plus, voting with our wallets shows fashion brands that we demand safer, better materials.
Also, choosing fabrics like cotton will help your skin breathe better and keep you cooler vs. synthetic materials like polyester and nylon.
If you do need to buy synthetic clothing, try to buy secondhand first – whether it’s from a FB group, secondhand store or website (like ThredUp) – to give these clothes another lease on life and keep them out of landfills.
But if you can’t and buy new, don’t stress. Opt for ones made with recycled materials, if available, but if that’s not available, don’t sweat it. No one needs any extra stress in their lives. Buy what you need, move on and try to shop some better alternatives going forward (if possible)!
Remember, it’s all about progress, not perfection, and doing the best we can 😉
