Questions to Ask Before Spring/Summer Shopping

As the temperatures in the Northeast continue to drop and we keep seeing predictions for more snow, it’s hard not to think about spring and summer, right?!

Plus, as new spring collections continue to drop, you, too, maybe mentally building a new spring and summer wardrobe. But before you go shopping, first check out your closet to see what you truly need vs. want and then ask yourself these questions as you’re building that wish list:

  • Do I really need this?
  • Can I find it secondhand? Locally? Could I borrow it?
  • How long have I wanted this?
  • What’s within my current budget?

Sure, impulse shopping is awesome, but we all know how it feels to get home and immediately regret those decisions.

So, perhaps, think outside the box, like secondhand options (which could be Poshmark, ThredUp or your local consignment shop), visiting local boutiques first or even borrowing, depending on your needs, before heading online or to your mall. I know this may not be realistic for every item on your list, but it’s worth considering all the different avenues!

As we think ahead to the next season and rounding out our closets for spring/summer, let’s keep our wallets and the environment in mind to shop smarter (yes, let’s try to resist fast fashion and invest as much as we can!) and as responsibly as we can.
