Following Earth Day, there’s no better time to focus on implementing more simple and sustainable ways to safely better the Earth and you while you’re home.
So, let’s start by focusing on one activity that everyone does: bathing!
This act of self-care is so important, so how can we make it more eco-friendly?
- Showers vs Baths: Know this isn’t applicable for all ages, but when possible, consider a shower over a bath, as showers use less water – the average bath uses 35 to 50 gallons of water, whereas a 10-minute shower with a low-flow showerhead only uses 25 gallons (source: water footprint calculator).
- Don’t Rinse Harmful Ingredients Down the Drains: Be sure to read the ingredient labels of the shampoo/conditioner/soap products you’re using and choose safer – you don’t want any hidden or artificial fragrances and chemicals going down the drain!
- Conserve Water When You Can: When shaving your legs or deep conditioning your hair , be sure to turn off the water and save some H20!
- Double Duty: Who isn’t about multitasking products, so choose and shop wisely – one favorite here is our sugar body scrub that will not only exfoliate and hydrate your skin, but help you cut down on your shower time, too!
- Shorten Those Showers: Lastly, we all know showers can be such a nice escape, but pay attention to the length, as shortening your shower by even one minute can save up to 5 gallons of water!
Your bath and shower can be such a great self-care sanctuary, so why not make it more planet-friendly, too, with these simple swaps!
