My Review of ProLon’s Fasting Mimicking 5-Day Diet

ProLon food at-a-glance

Have you ever done any cleanses or fasts before or do intermittent fasting?

I haven’t, but they’ve always intrigued me and when I first learned about ProLon’s fasting mimicking diet, I became very curious about a five day diet that mimicked fasting but with food. As a healthy reset between the holidays, I loved the idea of a cellular clean-up, so I decided to give ProLon a go last week and hoped I could handle it.

You may be wondering, what exactly is ProLon?

“ProLon is a 5-day dietary program that nourishes your body while promoting regenerative and rejuvenating changes, including effects on a wide range of markers that contribute to aging, such as cholesterol, inflammation, and fasting glucose.”

Each day for five days, I only ate and drank their provided food, snacks, teas and supplements. For the most part, the five days flew by relatively easily, but there were definite times, especially the first two days, where I had a headache probably from a combination of carb/sugar and caffeine withdrawal, although feeling less bloating was a definite perk 🙂

Was I hungry at times? Of course!

I think the fact that I typically eat mostly plant-based helped me with their diet and let me tell you, divvying up the designated day’s food when needed (esp the kale crackers that I split between lunch and dinner) helped my hunger pains when dinner was just soup, ha! Drinking tons of water was key and ProLon even allowed me tolerate eating olives, then actually look forward to them, too – something I would never do beforehand although doubt I’ll be reaching for them all too often now!

Takeaways?

Overall, it was a great way to revive and be more aware of my eating habits, while boosting my health. I consider myself to be a healthy eater, but this definitely reminded me to be more mindful of eating when I need to vs when I want to, which I especially want to continue working on daily. I also convinced my sister to do it with me, so having an accountability partner was a huge help!

Would I do it again?

Definitely, but I’m not rushing to do it first thing in 2021, so I’m enjoying their bars as snacks in the meantime 🙂

It sounds interesting. 1) is it gluten-free? 2) did you lose any weight? I’m looking for a quick reset myself. Great job reviewing.

Yes, it is GF and while I didn’t weigh myself, I definitely felt less bloated, so perhaps. Highly recommend!
